Not terribly exciting but anything is better than none. The bottom line is that the more food you put in front of your face the more you are likely to eat. If smaller plates will help you from overeating, then by all means, dump the larger ones.</p>

<p>These days I am doing squats not to build muscle mass, but rather to create muscle endurance. I am lifting 20 reps at a time, which at the weight I work, is to basically failure. I am using a machine and find the exercise tolerable.</p>
<p>There are numerous ways you can do squats. The basic squat is where you stand, legs shoulder width a part. Simply squat down until your legs are parallel with the floor. Sounds easy right? Well I see so many people screwing up this exercise, to the detriment of their back.</p>
<p>The main thing is to not look down. If you look down the tendency is to pitch forward which will cause strain to your lower back. You want to make sure you are looking up so  the exercise is centered over your thighs and butt. Grab some weights when you are ready for <a href='http://healthybodyinfo.com/weblog/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-pro.php?id=4' onmouseover="top.window.status='strength training'; return true" onmouseout="top.window.status=''; return true" target="_blank">strength training</a>. You can use a bar over your shoulder or simply grab dumbbells in each hand.</p>
<p>A really neat way to do the squat is to use an exercise ball. Position an exercise ball between the wall and your back. Put your hands on your hips (or holding a couple of weights for the advanced), shoulder width apart. Begin lowering yourself until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Return to the start position while maintaining tightness in your legs, abs and butt.</p>
<p>I think squats are probably the best all around leg exercise you can do. But you have to be sure you do them deliberately. Slowly. It&#8217;s not a race. Form is <em>everything</em> with squats.</p>
